Our Classes
Hot yoga
Hot yoga (also known as Bikram or Hatha) is a 75-90 minute class where students of every experience level build strength, balance and flexibility while completing a sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. It's a good class for beginners since each class is the same sequence and each posture is done twice. This challenging workout takes place in a heated room to encourage an increased range of motion in muscles, joints and ligaments. We try to keep the temperature at around 105 degrees, though there will be some variations based on factors beyond our control such as outside temperature and the number of people in the class.
The set series of compressions and extensions help:
Release of toxins through the skin, the body’s largest organ.
Tone and strengthen muscle systems.
Build willpower, concentration and determination.
Focus the mind.
Power Vinyasa Yoga
Power Vinyasa is a 60-75 minute class. This flowing style yoga builds strength and flexibility through continuous movement. The changing series of standing, balancing and floor work is designed to invigorate the body and focus the mind. Power Vinyasa classes are held in a heated room. The temperature may vary based on factors beyond our control such as outside temperature and the number of people in the class.
Power Vinyasa classes provide a dynamic and exciting workout that:
Helps build stamina
Builds cardiovascular strength.
Sculpts and tones the body.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a 60 minute class, poses are held for 3-5 minutes. It is a gentle and meditative Yoga practice designed to deeply stretch the connective muscle tissue. Yin complements and counterbalances other muscle building and strengthening practices. This is a good class for beginners as the poses are primarily done on the floor and it's slow paced. This class is held in a non-heated room. (Please note the room may still be warm since most of our yin classes are scheduled right after one of our heated classes.) The room temperature may vary so we encourage people to wear layers to adjust to the temperature.
Relaxing and restoring Yin classes help:
Restore flexibility
Increase joint flexibility
Balance your practice
Slow Flow
For those that want a little more than yin and a little less than a full power class. This class offers a more alignment based approach to learning postures, helping to improve balance, strength and flexibility. This meditative flow incorporates steady breathing, longer holds of each posture, and easier transitions between the postures with options to use props. This is an all levels class. It can be a great place for beginners to start before taking a power class. These classes may also incorporate some of the poses from our hot yoga and yin classes so you can get a feel of all the different classes.
This is a non-heated class but you will likely still break a sweat! (Please note the temperature may vary and the room will likely still be warm from the heated class before, so we encourage people to wear layers to adjust to the temperature.) We offer a 60 minute class as well as a longer 75 minute class, allowing your body to soak in all the benefits. All levels welcome!
Movement Meditation Yoga
There are many ways to practice the asanas. To focus the energies released inward and upward during and after an asana is a kind of moving meditation that opens up many hidden potentials and realizations about ourselves. With keen attention on alignment we practice standing firmly on our own two feet, deeply engaging the core. This rooting allows us a safe and strong alignment all the way up the sacred spine, where we can realize massive benefits in both physical and subtle ways throughout all the asanas. We practice breathing deeply, and relaxing, even in the midst of great effort. Through the use of affirmations and pranayama we align our own consciousness with more expanded realities. Pausing between postures in a very dynamic way and combining all these things in one intentional focus is perhaps the most powerful aspect of this ancient practice. It is a profound integration, an art and science, an immersion which attunes us with the great yoga masters near and far, and brings us into awareness of our best and highest Self.
*Warning: Spontaneous Joy may flow through you in boundless waves!
All levels welcome! This is a great class for beginners to start their yoga journey. Most of the poses are similar to the power/slow flow classes but the pace is slow with much longer holds. You will learn the proper alignment of each posture, different options that work for your body as well as ways to use props to help soften or deepen your postures. This is a non-heated class. (Please note the temperature may vary so we encourage people to wear layers to adjust to the temperature.)
